Although images of Bleak preceded the first official drawing is dated in 2009. Starting as a graffiti character tagged on walls and painted on skateboards in 2011 Nick began ordering stickers as a quick and easy way to spread the image and be seen without the repercussions of illegal graffiti charges that he already had under his belt and some. The stickers started to be associated with his band and rap persona but Nick wanted much more. He intended to use his characters for much more than visual art and promotion, but as a symbol of understanding on a higher level in (what some would call) the lowest classes of society. After years of unknowingly and subliminally joining the stream of consciousness of Raleigh, NC, Shadows Life has been virtually all over the world. and is still in it's earliest stages with goals to grow exponentially. Today, Shadows Life enjoys selling limited run art pieces, sponsoring events, and creating digital illustrations and art of many mediums that depicts the real-life events that formed Bleak and the underground scenes he holds dear to his heart. The objective of Shadows Life is to show the community (and beyond!) that a little idea can do big things while representing the outsiders.
